Lloyd Leonard Ahlquist (born January 19, 1977), better known as his online alias EpicLLOYD, is best known for the co-creating of YouTube video series Epic Rap Battles of History,[1] along with Peter Shukoff, known as "Nice Peter".[2][3] Ahlquist has been professionally performing for the past 13 years, as of May 2012, as an MC, actor, improviser and writer.[4] Lloyd has been married to Josie Ahlquist since 2009.

YouTube

Solo channel

Ahlquist runs his own YouTube channel that launched on April 20, 2011. Ahlquist has a staple series on his own channel, titled "Dis Raps For Hire", which featured Ahlquist taking a user-submitted comment asking Ahlquist to lyrically "destroy" or insult another person that is bullying or harassing the user.[5][6] To date, 9 "Dis Raps for Hire" have been produced.

On July 17, 2012, Ahlquist's channel hit 200,000 subscribers. As a "thank you" gesture, he partook in the Cinnamon challenge.[7]

Epic Rap Battles of History

In 2010, Ahlquist partnered with Peter Shukoff to create Epic Rap Battles of History under Maker Studios[8] sometime after Ahlquist, Shukoff and Zach Sherwin (a guest on the rap battles), were playing Check OneTwo, a freestyle rap improv game where they took suggestions from the audience of famous people to battle rap of the top of their heads.[9] Ahlquist has played several characters on the successful[9][10] rap battles including Bill O'Reilly and Adolf Hitler.[11] All 23 rap battles to date have accumulated over 640 million views combined as of October 28, 2012.

Comedy and Theater

Ahlquist is the former General Manager and Artistic Director of M.i.'s Westside Comedy Theater.[12] Ahlquist also studied at UMass Amherst and later trained in Chicago at The Second City, Improv Olympic and Annoyance Theatre. Ahlquist was one of the founding members of Mission IMPROVable, but not a current member of the improv group.[13]

Other Appearances

Ahlquist appeared on "The Lockout", an episode of The League, as Dr. Andre Nodick. In April 2012, Ahlquist collaborated with Sam Macaroni and Ask a Ninja in two different videos, one featuring an introducing backstory with the other featuring a rap that ends the story within the video.[14]
